In-Person & Telehealth Maternal Mental Health Services
Motherhood is transformative, but that transformation may not always be what we envision.
Being a mother in this world can feel all at once hyperconnected (advice/expectations/parenting approaches/highlight reels constantly at your finger tips) and isolating, whether we are surrounded by supports or not. I hear so often “I wish I had known….” and “please tell me this is normal”. To address the latter plea, allow me to ask a question of you instead. Is the way that you feel changing the way you move through your day, make decisions, listen to your instincts, interact with the world, or connect with yourself, your baby, or loved ones? I will hazard a guess that if you are reading this, things are not feeling right. And that is enough. Try not to get caught up on diagnostic criteria (I see you Googling. Stop it.) and focus rather on how things feel. Here are a few things that may also resonate with you and that often come up with my clients:
Scary, intrusive thoughts
Traumatic pregnancies, births, and recovery
Grief and loss
Fear surrounding health and mortality
Coping with the change in access to self care
The shift in identity
GUILT
Comparison traps
Unexpected reflections on how you were parented
Rage
BOUNDARIES
Control
Body image
The invisible load of motherhood
Self-advocacy
Mindreading and expectations
Developmental comparisons
Parenting a child with a disability or health concern
What you are feeling now is not forever. I know that is extremely hard to believe from where you sit. It can feel all-encompassing and inevitable, and it can feel impossible to imagine a time where your mind is not turned against you. Please hear me when I say that it is possible to feel like yourself again. And I can help you get there.

I am not in network with insurance but am happy to provide you with a superbill so you can seek reimbursement with your insurance company. All insurance companies and policies are different in their approach to this, so I would recommend giving them a call to ask about what your out-of-network benefits are. If you have any questions let me know and we can chat through the process together.

I begin with weekly sessions for at least the first 4-6 weeks. This allows us to really get to know each other and find our rhythm. I encourage open communication throughout our work together, and we will have conversations surrounding frequency as we go.
Regarding duration, that is entirely based on your needs. I have had individuals find the relief and progress that they seek in 6 sessions, and I have also seen clients for years. We will find what works for you together, and we have the freedom to do so.

My practice is based in Columbus, Ohio, and I offer both in-person sessions for locals and online via my secure telehealth platform (Simple Practice) on your computer or smart phone for clients across the state of Ohio. There are benefits to both settings, and what matters is what feels best to you.
For telehealth, I recommend finding a quiet, cozy, and confidential spot for our sessions. Or the drivers seat of your car in the parking lot of your choice. Children are always welcome as we certainly do not need another barrier to accessing the care you need, however it can also be nice for you to have 5o minutes of time dedicated solely to you.
